Fred Dreier

Frederick Dreier is the features editor at Outside magazine, and he oversees our Adventure vertical and manages our annual coverage of Mount Everest season. Fred also writes a fair amount, and over the years has reported on the survival reality show Alone, unlikely survival in the Colorado Rockies, and the business of endurance sports. Prior to joining Outside, he was the editor-in-chief at VeloNews from 2016 to 2021. He was also a regular contributor to The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and The New York Times. Fred is a 2010 graduate of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He lives in Lafayette, Colorado with his wife, Angie, and his six-year-old daughter, Magnolia.
