Scott Jurek

Trail Running Pioneer

Scott Jurek is a trail running pioneer whose legacy was built on long miles, rugged terrain, and a deep respect for the mountains. Known for redefining what was possible in ultrarunning, he approached the trail with patience, discipline, and an unwavering belief in sustainable endurance. In 2004, Scott signed with Brooks Running, beginning a partnership that would help shape modern trail footwear. Most notably through his direct influence on the original Cascadia, a shoe designed to handle long days and unpredictable terrain. That same philosophy carried into how he fueled his running. A lifelong advocate of a plant‑based, vegan diet, Scott demonstrated that elite performance and longevity could be fueled entirely by plants—using nutrition as a tool for recovery, resilience, and consistency over decades in the sport. His philosophy of simplicity—both in how he ran and how he fueled—helped shape modern trail culture and inspired generations of runners to think differently about endurance.
