Sarah Swallow

Adventure Cyclist & Storyteller

Sarah Swallow is an adventure cyclist, route developer, storyteller, and community builder who uses her platform to advocate for more inclusive, thoughtful, and sustainable approaches to cycling. She has spent the past decade traveling tens of thousands of miles by bike across six continents and more than 21 countries. Her riding has ranged from racing events like Unbound Gravel to route development projects to becoming one of the first cyclists to ride the 5,000-mile Trans-America Trail. Throughout her experiences, she has found that the slower, more immersive journeys most influence her approach, shifting her focus away from performance and toward connection, sustainability, and a deeper relationship with place. She is the creator of Ruta del Jefe, a multi-day cycling event based in U.S. Mexico Borderlands that blends adventure riding with education, cultural exchange, and conservation, raising over $45,000 in 2024 for local indigenous, conservation, and humanitarian organizations through this event. She also contributed to the development of the Golden Gravel Trail, a 3,700-mile route from the Pacific Coast to the Mississippi River. Through her work, Sarah aims to create experiences—whether through routes, events, coaching, or storytelling—that invite people to slow down, engage more deeply with the places they travel through, and build more meaningful connections to both landscape and self.
