Mary-Frances Heck oversees the editorial teams and brands at Outside Inc. A James Beard Award winner and cookbook author, Mary-Frances joined Outside after a decade in food media with brands like Food & Wine, Lucky Peach, and Bon Appétit. Her passion is helping others live well, connecting the dots between knowledge and action. Mary-Frances earned her MBA from Emory’s Goizueta Business School, a degree in Culinary Arts from The Culinary Institute of America, and a bachelors in History from The University of Massachusetts. Originally from Boston, she lives with her wife and children in Birmingham, Alabama.
